    01/20/2012 Massachusetts Youth Soccer's District Select Program is preparing for the summer 2012 season. As always, the DSP is searching for committed coaches, administrators and players and looks forward to another outstanding summer of soccer.
 

MASSACHUSETTS YOUTH SOCCER WELCOMES NEW STAFF  
 
               
Jim Gondek rejoins Massachusetts Youth Soccer after an absence of more than 8 years. He served as Massachusetts Youth Soccer’s first Executive Director, held the position of Treasurer and Member of the Board of Directors and for the past several years has served as a volunteer with the State Cup program. Most recently Jim was Treasurer and Director of Administration for a software company that he owned along with his sons. Jim has extensive soccer coaching experience on the youth, club and college levels.  Jim maintains the accounting records and the excess health insurance claims records and would be able to help members when filing a claim. 
Tamie Endow comes to Massachusetts Youth Soccer from various management positions in the construction industry in the Worcester area and will serve as the Director of Member Services.  She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Management from Syracuse University.  Tamie has served as a Team Manager for F.C. United and a Team Administrator for the Olympic Development Program. Her primary responsibility is the administration of all aspects of the Criminal Offender Record Information (“CORI”) policies and procedures at Massachusetts Youth Soccer with regard to required background checks on prospective coaches, administrators, volunteers and employees involved in youth soccer across the state.

                       

TOURNAMENT SEASON RETURNS
As spring approaches, so too does the youth soccer tournament season in Massachusetts. The Scorpion Bowl, NEFC Preseason Tournament, WVSC Spring Kickoff Classic and the Southwick 3 v 3 Shootout provide a variety of tournaments in March! For information on all Massachusetts Youth Soccer-sanctioned tournaments, CLICK HERE.

 

KOHL'S CUP RETURNS
The Kohl's US Youth Soccer American Cup provides recreational youth soccer players an opportunity to experience a consistent and high quality statewide tournament in a fun, family-like atmosphere. It fosters stimulation and excitement about soccer in an effort to increase the recreational players interest in and love for the game. Nationwide, more than 65 Kohl's American Cup events are scheduled.

The Kohl's American Cup - Massachusetts will be played at the Citizens Bank Fields at Progin Park in Lancaster, MA on Sunday April 22nd, 2012. For more information and to register your team for this outstanding soccer event, CLICK HERE.


                 
 

 WINTER TRAINING BEGINS FOR OLYMPIC DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

Mass Youth Soccer ODP begins its winter training at the Forekicks Indoor Facility in Marlborough, MA. Winter training will once again include a unique opportunity to all of its players during its winter training. Beyond the best individualized training on the field offered in the state, Mass ODP also provides each player with the opportunity to improve their game from a sports psychology perspective. The Player Performance Enhancement Program is run in partnership with the Springfield College Athletic Counseling Program.  Established in 1982, The Springfield College graduate program is regarded one of the finest in the country.  The Springfield College Performance Enhancement Team are trained to help each of our ODP players improve their performance on the field through a variety of techniques such as Goal Setting, Imagery and Relaxation, Self-Motivation and Distraction Control.

2012 TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE ANNOUNCED
In addition to the Mass Youth Soccer State Cup, Mass Tournament of Champions and the Mass Youth District Select Program Tournament, the Citizens Bank Field at Progin Park act as a host site for numerous competitive youth soccer tournaments. Organized and run by area clubs, these tournaments have all grown in size and reputation over the past several years. FORMER ODP STANDOUT TAKEN 12th IN MLS SUPERDRAFT
Aaron Maund of Dorchester, a 5-year Massachusetts Olympic Development Program player was chosen 12th overall in the MLS SuperDraft held in Kansas City by Toronto FC. The former F.C.
